The United Fresh Produce Association is expanding its portfolio of expertise in the supply chain and logistics domain with the appointment of Dan Vache, formerly v.p. of sales-food division at Sensitech, Inc., who has been named to lead the trade association's new Supply Chain Logistics and Technology Program.
In the newly established position, Vache's role will center on education while developing hands-on tools and services to assist companies throughout the fresh produce supply chain in meeting challenges in transportation, cold chain management, information technologies, traceability, facilities management, energy efficiency, packing and packaging needs ,and related areas.
Funded in part by a grant from C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. (CHR), United Fresh's new Supply Chain Logistics and Technology Program will officially commence on Jan. 19, when Vache assumes his new duties in a new Pacific Northwest-based office.
"Adding someone of Dan's stature will provide the means for our association to help all players in the produce industry -- shippers, transportation partners, and receivers alike -- address costs, efficiency, and productivity in tackling some of their greatest challenges," said Jim Lemke, CHR's s.v.p and chairman-elect of United Fresh.
