Union, Colorado Grocers to Restart Negotiations

DENVER - The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) said that grocery workers represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers union and representatives of King Soopers, Safeway, and Albertsons will resume talks on Friday, according to published reports.

Over 17,000 Colorado grocery workers were in the midst of voting on contract proposals from the three grocers when UFCW International president Joe Hansen stopped the voting and requested that both sides keep negotiating.

The union and the grocers consented to restart talks at the request of the FMCS.
