Trig’s Alan Alden Wins Wis. 2016 Grocer of the Year
Alan Alden, VP of sales and operations for T.A. Solberg, which operates six Trig’s locations in northern Wisconsin, has been named the 2016 Grocer of the Year by the Wisconsin Grocers Association, the Madison-based trade organization's highest honor.
Alden has more than 40 years of experience in the industry, and has worked for Trig’s since 2003. He has owned his own store and held various positions with Kwik Trip, Nash Finch and Fleming. His nomination by Mark Maloney of Russ Davis Wholesale noted that “Alan is grocery: he is passionate, a retailer, a fan … he is the industry!”
Alden was commended for always searching for more innovative ways to serve customers, employees and the community. Recognizing that associates play a key role in the company’s success, he provides training programs, placement strategies and opportunities for continuing education. He also coordinates and heads many local charities, including food drives, and encourages his staff to become involved in the community which is part of T.A. Solberg’s success.
