Tree of Life Adds Two More Execs to 'Category Expert Team'
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Specialty foods distributor Tree of Life here has tapped two experts in their fields to join what it calls its team of "category experts." Ken Erickson was appointed to the position of director of premium taste, while David Tsang was named senior category manager, Asian. Both assumed their new roles with the company on Dec. 13.
Erickson joins Tree of Life with over 15 years experience in the specialty retail grocery industry. Ken's most recent experience was as director of purchasing for Whole Foods Market, SWLP, the distribution subsidiary for Whole Foods Market. Since 1990, Erickson has held positions to include director of merchandising for EthnicGrocer.com and various purchasing and category management roles with Bristol Farms.
David Tsang, senior category manager Asian, joins Tree of Life with over 18 years of experience in the Asian food industry. As president and owner of House of Tsang, he led the company to a successful acquisition by Kraft Foods in 1987. In 1989 Tsang expanded House of Tsang's sales and marketing programs by creating the Oriental Deli line for the foodservice sector. After Hormel's purchase of House of Tsang in 1992, he stayed on as division president for five years. In 1998 Tsang founded Starport Foods, a multi-ethnic food company in San Francisco, where he was president until joining Tree of Life in 2005.
