OMAHA, Neb. -- ConAgra Foods, Inc. here said it has resumed production of its Banquet and private label pot pies at its Marshall, Mo., plant, more than a month after the company recalled the products due to salmonella contamination.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Lower costs and expenses helped Nash Finch Co. here post a profit for the third quarter vs. a year-ago loss while the food distributor's sales declined. In the quarter ended Oct. 6, Nash Finch's quarterly net earnings rang up $15.4 million, or $1.12 per share, compared to a net loss of $4.6 million, or $0.34 per share last year.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- In the latest industry initiative to boost food safety practices, GLOBALGAP and The Food Marketing Institute's Safe Quality Food (SQF) Institute said yesterday they are developing a combined audit checklist that will facilitate a "high degree of harmonization between the GLOBALGAP and SQF 1000 on-farm standards."
