Tops Sizzles with Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings
"Buffalo has long been known as the birthplace of the chicken wing," noted Frank Curci, c.e.o. of Tops, whose hometown of Williamsville, N.Y. is in the greater Buffalo area. "As a locally operated company, Tops…continues to take steps every day to work with local businesses who call western New York home and to offer our customers a wider variety of products."
Acording to Curci, five varieties of fully cooked Anchor Bar chicken wings are available daily.
Using a secret recipe, Teressa Bellissimo came up with the original Buffalo Wing in 1964 at the Anchor Bar restaurant on Buffalo’s Main Street. The bar is still in operation today.
The agreement with Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings is the second strategic partnership that Tops has revealed recently in the prepared foods area. Last month Tops said it had reached an agreement to add either full-service Tim Hortons restaurants or self-serve Tim Hortons kiosks in all 82 Tops and Tops Xpress locations by the close of 2008.
Tops operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets in western and central New York and northwestern Pennsylvania, and employs over 10,000 associates.
