Tops Remodels, Reopens 3 N.Y. Stores

Tops Markets LLC has invested $3.4 million in three stores, located in Ithaca, Lansing and East Aurora, N.Y.

Among the Lansing store renovations, totaling $1.65 million, were revamped produce, prepared food and deli departments, along with a new pharmacy, brew market and bulk section, and the rollout of a fresh-fried doughnut program.

The East Aurora location’s $1.5 million transformation included an enhanced natural and organic section; larger produce, prepared food and deli departments; and upgraded full-service meat and seafood departments.

Additionally, both the Lansing and East Aurora stores received new décor.

Costing $250,000, the Ithaca Tops remodel resulted in a new soup bar, an enhanced floral department, and new paint and décor.

"Since the return of local ownership [in 2013], Tops has been able to make major reinvestments back into the company's stores," said Frank Curci, the company's president and CEO. "We value our shoppers' feedback and have brought the necessary changes that will provide them with an even better and more enjoyable shopping experience."

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops Markets LLC operates 164 full-service supermarkets – 159 company-owned and five franchise locations – with more than 16,000 associates in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Vermont.
