Texas Walmart to Include 1st Chobani Café Outside NYC
A Walmart Supercenter slated to open Feb. 15 in Tomball, Texas, will feature the first Chobani Café outside of New York City – and only the third ever, according to a published report. The 2,000-square-foot store-within-a-store will hold its own grand opening on Feb. 28.
Norwich, N.Y.-based Chobani currently has two cafes in Manhattan’s SoHo and Tribeca neighborhoods, the former a stand-alone location, the latter within a Target.
In addition to the café, which will serve Mediterranean-inspired items, many of them incorporating Chobani yogurt, the Tomball Supercenter will offer a range of the Bentonville, Ark.-based mega-retailer’s latest features, including its new Scan & Go app, as yet available only in two other Walmart locations, in Arkansas and Florida; free curbside delivery of groceries and prescriptions, the first Walmart Care Clinic in greater Houston and the ninth in Texas, an updated design and layout, and an in-store Woodforest National Bank with its own high-tech amenities, the Houston Business Journal reported.
Scan & Go enables customers to scan items on their phones while shopping in the store and pay for them instantly, bypassing checkout.
