Tesco Shows Some Fresh & Easy Cards in Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Tesco offered further evidence that it is not bluffing about it U.S. expansion plans, giving invited guests here a view inside its U.S. division, making an official disclosure of its planned store locations in this city and exterior store design for its Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here.

At the Wynn Resort Fresh & Easy c.e.o. Tim Mason showed some of his hand by revealing detail about the company's regional growth plans. He also emphasized the U.K. grocery powerhouse's commitment to high quality and affordable goods, and its intention to offer benefits as a neighbor and employer.

The chain plans six new stores for the Las Vegas market, according to the local Las Vegas Business Press. It acquired the first site, on Tropicana Ave., through a 20-year, $4.7 million lease to occupy 14,253 square feet of space inside a Gatski Commercial eight-acre complex, the report stated.

However, the half-dozen sites, which have "location suitability applications" filed with the Clark County Business Licensing Department, have not been approved to date, according to county spokesperson Stacey Welling.

"No business licenses have been approved at this point," Welling was quoted as saying. Three of the locations have received preliminary approval.
