Teamsters to Vote Again on Wegmans Contract

Following discussions with a federal mediator, Wegmans Food Markets Inc. has confirmed that workers of Teamsters Local 118 will vote once again on the proposed contract originally agreed to last month. The revote is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7.

Contract negotiations have been contentious, with retirement and health care benefits most prominently at issue. At one point, after talks had broken down and a strike seemed imminent, New York Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy interceded to get the parties back to the table.

Family-owned Wegmans operates 83 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
