Supervalu's Noddle to Speak at Consumer 360 Conference
CHICAGO -- Supervalu chairman and c.e.o. Jeff Noddle has joined the list of headline speakers at this year's Consumer 360 Conference to be held May 16 to May 18 at the J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, Calif. The annual event -- hosted by Progressive Grocer's sister VNU companies, ACNielsen and Spectra -- is the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry's premiere educational and networking event, attracting over 1,000 industry professionals each year.
This year's event showcases "What's Next?" in the fast moving, ever-changing CPG industry, and will reveal cutting-edge insight into the future of retail and manufacturing. Noddle will discuss "What's Next?" in grocery retail, and the future's impact on the industry and consumers. Elected to lead Supervalu in 2001, Noddle oversees the leading U.S. food distributor and the country's seventh-largest grocery retail today. Driving the company's acquisition of Albertson's early this year, Noddle will soon lead the second-largest grocery retailer in the United States once the acquisition is complete.
"It is both an honor and a pleasure to have Mr. Noddle speak at this year's Consumer 360 Conference. As we look ahead to the future of retail, we have to look at what Supervalu has accomplished in order to understand what is driving the revolutionary change in the retail industry," Steve Schmidt, president and c.e.o., VNU Marketing Information and ACNielsen, said. "Mr. Noddle's perspective on the future for grocery retail, combined with his company's latest acquisition, makes him an ideal futurist."
Joining Jeff Noddle as a conference headliner will be his brother Allen Noddle, retired e.v.p. and member of Royal Ahold's corporate executive board, the latter of whom will reveal his perspective on the future of the CPG industry from a manufacturer point of view.
Also on the speaker's lineup is Andrew Zolli, well-known futurist-in-residence for both Popular Science magazine and Public Radio's Marketplace, who will share his outlook on the global trends and technologies that will shape the next 25 years for business and industry.
Completing the general session lineup are: Phil Lempert, consumer trend tracker, author and food trends expert for NBC's "Today" show, who will lead a live consumer panel on stage, discussing consumer issues and factors influencing consumers' purchasing decisions; Mike Polk, group v.p., foods, home, and personal care divisions, Unilever U.S., who will share his perspective on how to build a more competitive and dynamic company that can better prepare for the up-and-coming changes to the CPG industry; Sthanunathan Srinivasan, v.p., knowledge & insights, Coca-Cola Co., who will bring a manufacturer's perspective to "What's Next?" with his vast and diverse 10 years of global experience at the brand; and "Let's Talk Tech," comprising a diverse panel of industry experts from such technology experts as Accenture and IBM, sharing the importance of technology and the critical role it plays in today's CPG industry.
"At VNU we are constantly looking to develop innovative and unconventional solutions to drive our clients' success in the CPG industry," said Tom Markert, VNU Marketing Information's c.m.o. "This year's general session speaker lineup combines some of the top leaders in today's industry, who will provide unparalleled, actionable insight all attendees can utilize back in their own businesses."
In addition to a robust general session agenda, the workshops and training sessions have been restructured to provide richer content, and an engaging learning experience that attendees can leverage every day. New this year are several in-depth, interactive "Super Sessions" -- double sessions that will provide unique analysis and insights surrounding "The Future of Health & Wellness," "U.S. Retailing -- Past, Present & the Future," "Winning @Retail -- The Next Generation," "Hot Topics of the Day," and "The Future of Collaboration: A Retailer and Manufacturer Forum."
