Supervalu, Ridley's, MobileLime Win Global Electronic Marketing Awards

PARK CITY, Utah - Supermarkets operators Supervalu and Ridley's Family Markets, and mobile phone marketing solutions provider MobileLime, received awards for their electronic marketing solutions at the 15th annual Global Electronic Marketing Conference (GEMCON) produced by Morristown, N.J.-based Ogden Associates here last week.

"The GEM Awards recognize excellence in electronic marketing," said Mike Gorshe, partner, at the global consultancy that has sponsored the GEM Awards since their inception in 1996. He presented the awards with GEMCON founder Carlene Thissen.

The key criteria to select the winners were vision, strategy, execution, and innovation.

Minneapolis-based Supervalu earned the Retailer GEM Award for its Avenu program, an integrated, targeted, and personalized marketing network that consists of:
- Touchpoints at home and at the store, including Web site, email, direct mail, entrance kiosk, and Catalina checkout coupons
- Media and brand marketing product demonstrations throughout the store
- Advertising screens, location-based audio broadcasts, and screens at the checkout
- Personalized offers for shoppers

Community-based independent Ridley's Family Markets, Jerome, Idaho received the Al Lees, Jr. Award for Excellence Over Time. Family-owned and operated, Ridley's is a chain of 13 food and drug stores that carries groceries, deli, wine, clothing, and sporting goods. Ridley's employs about 600 people who that are steadfastly focused on customer service. The company's slogan is "Small enough to serve you. Large enough to save you money."

Ridley's has developed a variety of programs around its Advantage card loyalty program so that customers can participate in the best one for their needs. Program benefits include:
- Customizable shopping list
- Advantage Card Points redeemable for rewards and discounts
- Weekly ad and special offers sent via email

MobileLime, Watertown , Mass. was recognized for developing mobile phone technology for marketing, loyalty, and payment purposes.

This technology allows consumers to use their mobile phones to personalize their shopping experience with information and offers, participate in loyalty programs without carrying a card, and use their mobile phones as a quick and secure way to pay for purchases.
