Supervalu Names Robert V. Johnson v.p. of investor relations

Robert V. (Bob) Johnson has joined Supervalu as its new v.p. of investor relations, effective Jan. 5. In his new post Johnson will be responsible for the retailer/distributor's overall investor relations strategy, as a direct report to Pam Knous, Supervalu's e.v.p./c.f.o.

"Bob has a strong track record of building relationships with the financial community to effectively communicate key business strategies, specifically in the retail industry," said Knous. "I'm thrilled to have him join Supervalu and serve as our chief spokesperson to the investment and financial community."

Johnson comes to Supervalu following 32 years with J.C. Penney Corp., Inc., during which he served in a number of capacities within the company's finance department, including accounting, internal audit, financial reporting and investor relations.

In his recent role as J.C. Penney's v.p. of investor relations, Johnson led investor communications through key events including the company's turnaround process; and the divestiture of Eckerd Drugstores.

Johnson will succeed David Oliver, who has served in the v.p. investor relations role on an interim basis since earlier this year. Oliver will continue to serve in a leadership role within the company's finance department.
