Super Saver Gears Up for National Donut Day

Lincoln, Neb.-based B&R Stores, Inc.’s Super Saver stores will mark National Donut Day this Friday, June 7, by giving away a free glazed donut to the first 200 customers beginning at 7 a.m.

“We’re proud of our bakers and the donuts they make fresh every day,” said Pat Raybould, president of B&R Stores. “National Donut Day is an opportunity to honor their dedication and celebrate with our customers.”

Started in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army as a way to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I, National Donut Day is held on the first Friday of June each year.

Founded in 1964 by Russ Raybould, the employee-owned B&R Stores, Inc. has since grown to include four store concepts -- Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market -- located in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa.
