Sunflower Turns Green Into Pink With Reusable-bag Breast Cancer Fundraiser
Sunflower Farmers Markets will offer custom-designed limited-edition pink reusable grocery bags in October as part of a national effort in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Thirty cents from every bag sale will be donated toward the advancement of breast cancer patient care in each individual Sunflower community. The natural and organic grocer's goal is to sell 100,000 of the special-edition bags, which would result in a total donation of $30,000.
The pink grocery bags will be sold for 99 cents at every Sunflower store beginning Oct. 1, which is the same price-point as the everyday version of the Sunflower reusable bags. A total of 100,000 bags will be available at locations across Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
Boulder, Colo.-based Sunflower operates 17 stores throughout Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah, and plans to expand into Texas in November 2009.
