Sterilox Food Safety Receives $11 Million Order

MALVERN, Pa. -- Sterilox Food Safety based here, a division of U.K.-based PuriCore, has added another major food retail to its client roster. Due to confidentiality agreements, Sterilox was unable to identify the retailer by name. But Geoff Koontz, company spokesman, told Progressive Grocer that the new retail account is among the top five national supermarket chains with operations throughout North America.

The chain has committed to install Sterilox Food Safety Systems throughout its store network, said Koontz, adding that under the terms of the agreement, the retailer will purchase Systems for more than half of its store base in 2008, with the balance in 2009.

More than 20 U.S. supermarket chains, including now two of the five largest, use Sterilox Food Safety Systems to rinse fresh food products and sanitize food contact surfaces. The systems prevent cross contamination of infectious pathogens and enhance the freshness of perishables in retailers’ crisping, misting, fresh-cut fruit, and seafood programs.

Sterilox Food Safety is a division of PuriCore.
