Stater Bros. to Sponsor NASCAR Race in 2005

COLTON, Calif. -- A letter of intent has been entered into by Stater Bros. and its partners, Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Gatorade, and Tropicana, to sponsor the Stater Bros. 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif. on Saturday, Feb. 26. The sponsorship agreement will run through 2009.

The Stater Bros. 300 will be the second race of the season and will be part of a week of racing action at California Speedway and in downtown Fontana. Stater Bros. is also the "Official Grocery Store of the California Speedway."

"The Stater Bros. 'Family' of Employees is excited to partner with our supplier friends and California Speedway to present the Stater Bros. 300 race," said Jack H. Brown, chairman of the board and c.e.o. of Stater Bros. "NASCAR is one of the most popular spectator sports, and we're very enthusiastic about the 2005 race and continuing our successful relationship with California Speedway in the future."

This is the second straight year that Stater Bros. has sponsored a Busch Series race at California Speedway. The Stater Bros. 300 presented by Gatorade, held May 1, 2004, was Stater Bros.' first entry into auto-racing sponsorship. Stater Bros. is also the title sponsor of the "Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous," an automotive street fair held in the streets of downtown San Bernardino, Calif.
