Southeastern Grocers Adds 5 Fresco y Más Stores in South Florida
Southeastern Grocers LLC (SEG), parent company of Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más, Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores, has debuted five new Fresco y Más stores throughout Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County in simultaneous ribbon-cutting ceremonies. The format offers authentic Hispanic groceries with expanded product assortments, improved value and a more enjoyable shopping experience.
The first Fresco y Más store opened in Hialeah, Fla., in June 2016.
“The overwhelming positive response we received from our first Fresco y Más store in Hialeah gave us the motivation to open additional Fresco y Más stores to bring more savings to more communities,” said Ian McLeod, president and CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based SEG, adding that the company had tailored the new stores in response to customer feedback.
These tweaks have led to such features as a full-service Latin butcher shop (Carniceria); a refreshed, farmers’-market-style produce section; a renovated bakery department, a new Dollar Zone; a new Cocina (Kitchen) offering prepared foods; and a café with an expanded seating area, serving authentic offerings.
Additionally, the stores now sport a new custom façade, with a bright-yellow color scheme and bilingual signage throughout.
Among the more than 3,000 items available, customers can find products with prices that are “Low and Staying Low,” as well as items with special prices in honor of the grand openings.
SEG, the second-largest supermarket in the Southeast based on store count, employs nearly 60,000 associates in grocery stores, liquor stores and in-store pharmacies throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
