Smith's Food Pride Wins Nash Finch 'Race Days' Merchandising Event

MINNEAPOLIS -- Donnie Smith, owner of Smith's Food Pride in Chocowinity, N.C., was awarded top honors in the Race Days Power Event sponsored by Nash Finch here.

Smith was recognized for his store's outstanding performance in building sales, creating excitement and involving the community during Nash Finch's annual Race Days promotion. Smith's Food Pride held a wide variety of community activities including a coloring contest for kids and a classic car show.

Smith's also created extensive, themed displays resulting in a fun shopping environment for Race Days, a national sales promotion created exclusively for Nash Finch-supplied independent customers to build excitement and sales during a traditionally slow time of year.

Donnie Smith received the grand prize of $5,000 and becomes the "defending champion" for next year's event, which will once again take place in conjunction with the start of the racing season.

"Race Days gives us a chance to give back to our community and our customers," said Smith. "It also provides a great lift in sales. Thank you Nash Finch for creating this exciting event!"

The company also owns and operates a base of supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center and Sun Mart trade names.
