Skelton Elected Chairman of Winn-Dixie's Board of Directors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc.'s shareholders elected H. Jay Skelton to the company's board of directors and named him chairman earlier this week at the company's annual shareholders meeting.

Skelton, the president and c.e.o. of DDI, Inc., a diversified holding company owned by the Davis family and based in Jacksonville, Fla., succeeds A. Dano Davis. As previously announced, Davis decided to retire from Winn-Dixie's board of directors after more than 35 years of service to the company.

"We are pleased to welcome someone of Jay's talent and experience to our board of directors," said president and c.e.o. Frank Lazaran. "Jay has demonstrated tremendous leadership skills throughout his career, and he has an in-depth understanding of Winn-Dixie. He will be a valuable asset to our board as chairman."

"I am honored to have been elected by Winn-Dixie's shareholders to serve as chairman of the board," said Skelton. "I am looking forward to working with the board and the management of Winn-Dixie as we continue to make progress on the Company's strategic initiatives and improve its competitive position."
