ShopRite Hosts Social Networking Site for New Parents

ELIZABETH, N.J. -- ShopRite and Colchester, Vt.-based MyWebGrocer have teamed up to offer ShopRite.MyBaby.com, a social networking site for parents in search of an open communication platform where ideas, information, stories, and advice can be swapped. The site went live earlier this month.

"ShopRite.MyBaby.com is a way for parents to connect with other parents, share advice, and support one another while navigating through the parenting years," said Joe Colalillo, chairman and c.e.o. of Wakefern Food Corp., the marketing and distribution arm for ShopRite.

The site provides a full range of networking possibilities, among them blogging, photo and video sharing, journal keeping, event listings, personalized home pages, and profiles. Members are able to communicate with other parents from all across the country.

"[A]s anyone who's been a parent knows, information and advice are critical, especially when you have an infant," noted Rebecca Roose, Marketing and Account Manager for MyWebLink a division of MyWebGrocer.com. "ShopRite.MyBaby.com gives parents the power and support they're looking for."

The site's users have complete control over the amount of information they want to share, as well as whom they'd like to share it with. Each module or section of the site has a privacy option, which gives the user a choice of viewing privileges for other users, family, and friends.

ShopRite.MyBaby.com also features links to ShopRite's weekly specials and its online shopping service, ShopRite from Home.
