Schnucks Embarks on 2017 ‘Taste of Italy’

Schnucks Markets kicked off its annual “Taste of Italy” sweepstakes, for which the St. Louis-based regional retailer has filled its stores with hundreds of authentic Italian products that will enable shoppers to recreate their favorite Italian recipe at home.

Kicked off this week and running through March 14, Schnucks' "Taste of Italy" event will also enable award customers to win a variety of valuable prizes when shopping for such authentic Italian foods as De Cecco pasta, Orti di Calabria sauce, Ranieri olive oil and Monteli organic pizza – all of which are imported directly from the old country.

“The ‘Taste of Italy’ is our way of bringing customers delicious new Italian foods they may not think of every day,” said Schnucks Center Store Director Chris Mittendorf. “Our buyers have picked some wonderful products directly from Italy and are excited to bring them to our shoppers.”

Shoppers will be invited to enter to win the “Taste of Italy” grand prize, which is a six-night trip for two to Rome, while two other lucky customers will receive the second prize: a year of free groceries from Schnucks. Three customers will each win a $500 Schnucks gift card, while five additional winners will win $100 gift cards. The winners will be announced via Facebook the week of March 20.

Schnucks' “Taste of Italy” event also includes in-store cooking demonstrations and sampling of Italian cuisine made with Italian products carried in its stores. Throughout the three-week promotion, customers will also find special deals on authentic Italian brands throughout all Schnucks stores.

“It’s great to see a wonderful retailer like Schnucks working in partnership with our Italian government agency to share with its customers the culture and taste of true Italian flavors,” said Italian Trade Commissioner Chicago Office Matteo Picariello.

Details of the promotion, in-store demonstrations, samplings, recipes and more will be included in Schnucks weekly ad as well as posted on the company’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest pages. Sweepstakes forms with information on how to enter will be available in every store and at the bottom of each receipt.
