SCA Joins WWRE as First Manufacturer Board Member
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - SCA Hygiene Products AG (SCA), a Munich, Germany -based manufacturer and marketer of personal hygiene products such as bathroom tissue and paper towels, has joined the WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE) in the capacity of charter member and equity holder, the first manufacturer to do so.
"By joining the WWRE board, we find that we can further extend the business benefits of data synchronization by representing the manufacturer perspective on integrated, efficient processes while simultaneously providing a competent and experienced partner for retailer pilots," said Ole Terland, president of the SCA Consumer Tissue Business Group. "Whether it is in the area of global standards or in the practical implementation of e-business solutions, our WWRE board membership provides an excellent opportunity to share common interests with our retail customers, from which both parties benefit."
The move reflects the boost in manufacturer participation in the WWRE. "As our supplier community has grown from five to over 200 in 2004, it is of huge importance for the WWRE to have SCA as the first representative of the manufacturer community on our executive board," said Sally Herbert, WWRE's c.o.o. "This demonstrates that the exchange platform is truly a global one, providing equal value to both retailers and manufacturers."
