Save Mart's Spengler Retires Again

MODESTO, Calif. -- Save Mart Supermarkets here said its president and c.o.o., Bob Spengler, will retire from the company today, to be replaced by a three-member executive team that will report directly to c.e.o. Bob Piccinini.

The three executives taking on Spengler's responsibilities are e.v.p. Steve Junqueiro, s.v.p. and c.f.o. Ron Riesenbeck, an d s.v.p. of human resources and law Mike Silveira.

It is the second time the executive has retired from the chains. Spengler first retired from the company in December 2005 and then returned to his post in October 2006 to oversee Save Mart's acquisition of the Albertsons LLC Northern California Division. Spengler had reportedly agreed to come back to Save Mart with the stipulation that it would be a short-term position.
