Save-A-Lot Acquires 17 Former Grocery Outlet Locations
MINNEAPOLIS - Supervalu Inc. on Tuesday announced that its Save-A-Lot limited-assortment food store chain has acquired leasehold interests in 17 former Grocery Outlet sites primarily located in the Dallas/Forth Worth area and surrounding markets. Save-A-Lot currently operates 30 licensed locations in Texas.
"The addition of these locations kicks off Save-A-Lot's expansion activity for fiscal 2005," said Jeff Noddle, chairman and c.e.o. of Supervalu. "Save-A- Lot's scale in procurement, along with its Fort Worth distribution center, success in licensed store operation, and an unmatched value formula for consumers makes this a promising market opportunity for us."
The Save-A-Lot store network comprises 1,225 company-operated stores and licensed locations across 37 states.
