Sargento Exceeds Donation Promise To Hunger Task Force

PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- Sargento Foods here, maker of the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers, rang in the New Year by donating $50,000 through its "Touchdowns for Charity" program.

The charitable campaign, which partners the family-owned Sargento and the Hunger Task Force, is designed to help feed Wisconsin families in need. Since the 2003 initiation of "Touchdowns for Charity," whereby Sargento donates $1,000 to the Hunger Task Force for every Green Bay Packers touchdown scored during the season, the Wisconsin cheesemaker contributed a cumulative $167,000 to the Hunger Task Force.

In the program's third year, Sargento exceeded its commitment by donating $50,000 dollars for the 2005-06 season to the Hunger Task Force.

"Sargento is committed to the Wisconsin community," said Sargento chairman Lou Gentine. "We're proud to do our part in helping to feed the thousands of people in Wisconsin who rely on the Hunger Task Force for support."

Founded in 1953, Sargento is a leading manufacturer, packager and marketer of natural shredded, sliced and snack cheeses, cheese appetizers, ingredients and sauces. Sargento is owned and operated by the Gentine family and has net sales in excess of $500 million.
