Sam’s Club to Hold Free Health Screenings
Sam’s Club will offer free “New Year, New You” health screenings to members and the public alike on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is the first of 10 free monthly screenings at all 581 Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy, which will take place the second Saturday of each month through October.
Available while supplies last and valued at up to $100, the screenings include tests for glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and vision.
‘Giving Back’
“For the fourth consecutive year, Sam’s Club pharmacy associates are giving back to our communities with the free health screening program,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, SVP, Sam’s Club Health and Wellness. “Last year, the program performed more than 896,000 free screenings over 10 monthly events in our clubs. In 2014, our pharmacies continue to offer world-class counsel, amazing savings and easy access to prescriptions, immunizations and vital preventive screenings to keep our communities aware of their health.”
Additionally, the retailer is providing pharmacy benefits and health tips in the January/February 2014 issue of Healthy Living Made Simple magazine. With a circulation of 8 million -- the highest of any health-focused publication, according to the retailer -- the magazine is available at Sam’s Club pharmacies, member service counters and online.
The types and quantities of screenings may vary by state and club.
Sam’s Club, a division of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., has 630 U.S. club locations.
