Safeway Seattle Launches '10 Cents Off' Fuel Promo
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- The Seattle division of Safeway, Inc. launched a fuel promotion last week that offers customers the opportunity to automatically receive 10 cents off per gallon of gas at any Safeway Fuel Station when they spend $50 in the store through June 27.
A total of eight discounts can be banked on the Safeway club card. In addition, throughout the promotion, any banked six-cent discounts -- the regular discount for shoppers who spend $50 in the store -- will revert to a 10-cent discount. All 10-cent discounts must be redeemed by June. Any unused discounts that are banked on the club card will revert to a six-cent discount when the customer makes his or her next purchase of $50 or more.
"At a time when fuel prices are skyrocketing, every penny counts when filling up the tank," noted Cherie Myers, director of public and government affairs for Safeway's Seattle Division. "After filling up their sacks with groceries from our stores, it's rewarding to give back to our customers. In the first few days of the promotion, our customers have responded unanimously by lining up to fill their tanks."
Safeway operates 1,772 stores in the United States and Canada and had annual sales of $38.4 billion in 2005.
