Safeway to Offer Mariners Gift Cards
SEATTLE - Mariners Gift Cards, the first single, stored-value gift cards to be offered by a major league baseball team, will be available Nov. 22 not only at all seven Mariners Team Stores in Washington state, but also at 150 Safeway supermarkets in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, according to published reports.
The card will be able to be used for a wide variety of purchases, including single-game tickets, food, and drinks, at the ballpark and Mariners Team Stores. Consumers will be able to get the cards at Team Stores for any amount the purchaser chooses, and the cards can also be reloaded at any Team Store. One-time-use cards will be available for purchase at selected stores operated by Pleasanton, Calif-based Safeway for predetermined amounts of $25 and $50.
"As features have expanded, stored-value cards have evolved into more than just plastic replacements for paper gift certificates. Fans can create their own personal Mariners accounts and use the stored-value cards like all-in-one game day debit cards for their Mariners purchases," Seattle Mariners e.v.p. for business operations Bob Aylward said in a statement.
