Roundy's To Close Three Twin Cities Rainbow Foods
MILWAUKEE -- Roundy's Supermarkets Inc. here will close three Rainbow Foods stores in the Twin Cities on Sept. 2.
In a statement, Roundy's said the stores are being closed after careful consideration of their long-term viability and fit within the future plans for Rainbow's retail store network.
"This does not change our commitment to the Twin Cities area," said Robert Mariano, Roundy's chairman and c.e.o. "We continue to be pleased with Rainbow's growth and remain committed to the community. We opened a new store in Brooklyn Park in April and have plans for more new stores and remodels in the future."
Union and non-union employees at the soon-to-be-closed stores will be offered jobs at other Rainbow locations consistent with the company's collective bargaining agreements, according to the company.
Roundy's -- which will have 31 Twin Cities' stores after the closures -- currently operates 145 locations under the Pick 'n Save, Copps and Rainbow banners in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois.
