Report: Meijer Prepares for Mid-management Layoffs
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Midwest retailing giant Meijer may soon begin cutting mid-level managers at company stores across the Midwest, sources have told local TV news reporters.
Rumors of the layoffs have circulated for weeks, according to the report.
A source told 24 Hour News 8 that managers were called to a meeting yesterday, in which they were told that store directors would begin informing managers of layoffs and possible severance packages today.
Meijer spokesman John Zimmerman told reporters that the company would let them know if it has something to say that is significant to the general public.
