RBA, Partners Ready For American Bakery Expo
McLEAN, Vir. -- The Retail Bakers of America here, along with the New York State Association of Manufacturing Retail Bakers and the New Jersey Board of Trade, are preparing to present what they term the largest retail bakery exposition in the United States.
The American Bakery Expo (ABE) 2006 will take place Oct. 21-23 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, N.J. Designed to bring together retail bakers, decorators, suppliers and industry leaders for quality educational sessions, demonstrations and networking opportunities, ABE 2006 will feature the Professional Baker's Education Program, full of world-class speakers and demonstrators geared to fulfilling the needs of today’s bakers running a successful bakery; and an exhibit hall with hundreds of vendors showcasing not only the latest products, equipment and services, but also solutions to today’s baking industry problems.
"Today’s professional bakers have a need for information and education on not only the latest trends and techniques for the baking industry, but also on how to successfully manage their business in today's environment," said Susan Nicolais, RBA’s e.v.p. "The American Bakery Expo will not only provide the industry with these types of educational opportunities, but also with opportunities to network among their peers and the vendor community."
Conference highlights include in-depth education sessions on current healthy food topics and trends; public relations strategies; and the business aspects of wedding cakes, as well as moderated industry forums on important industry issues like theft detection and prevention; business valuation and worth; and marketing techniques for adding wholesale accounts.
Another conference feature is the various demonstrations of new industry techniques and products. This year’s demonstrations include the use of infusions on fruit tarts; decorating with fondant techniques; and Asian baked goods and pastries.
ABE 2006 will also showcase the country’s finest decorators during RBA's 6th Annual Creative Decorating Competition (CDC). Sponsored by General Mills, the CDC will bring together decorators from around the country as they compete for the coveted Pillsbury Grand Champion Title and trophy.
