Publix Suggests Shoppers Stay in and Save with its Apron's Simple Meals

Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets is trying to entice consumers to cook at home and save money, via a promotion for its Apron's meal ideas running on the home page of its Web site.

"It's simple -- stay in, save money," the promotion said. Publix said consumers can try something new for dinner every night of the week by taking advantage of its Apron's Simple Meals program.

The chain’s Web site features more than 500 "easy-to-make" recipes, in broad categories such as main dish recipes, sensible recipes, ethnic cuisine, foods for celebrations, and more. Publix said many of the recipes take as little as 15 minutes to prepare.

Publix's Apron's program also includes in-store meal ideas and sampling stations; cooking classes; event planning; and make-ahead meal assembly centers.
