Publix Celebrates 75 Years in Business

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets is celebrating its 75th anniversary this month by holding special in-store events chainwide. On March 3, every Publix store in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee will hold a simultaneous anniversary event from 4 to 7 p.m.

"Every Publix store will be adorned with nostalgic signs and festive decorations," said Publix spokeswoman Maria Brous in a statement. "Customers are invited to sample special Apron's Simple Meal recipes for a traditional southern meal of Country-Fried Steak, Peppered Mashed Potatoes and Southern Green Beans. We'll also serve up a special anniversary ice cream (Publix Premium Limited Edition Chantilly Jubilee) and an anniversary cake (7-inch Raspberry Swirl Layer Cake)."

In addition to the in-store event and commemorative items, Publix is also placing the anniversary logo on all truck trailers in the company's fleet.

"It's been our pleasure to serve customers for the past 75 years," said Publix president Ed Crenshaw. "This chainwide anniversary event is our way of inviting our customers to be a part of the celebration, as well as our way of saying 'thanks' for shopping with us."
