Price Chopper Wedding Flowers and Cakes to Be Featured on ESPN Radio

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Price Chopper is getting the chance to make a lucky couple feel even luckier as they prepare to wed, and give itself some valuable national exposure in the bargain. The chain said Friday that its Bristol, Conn. store will offer consultative services the winning couple of ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike Marriage Madness: The Ultimate Sports Wedding."

The radio show will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio, ESPN2 HD, ESPN360 (Broadband) ESPNRadio.com and Mobile ESPN on May 26.

"This will give Price Chopper the opportunity to showcase our Central Market florist certified designers," said Price Chopperís community and public relations representative JoAnn LaPorta. "In addition, we have the talent to make more than a dozen spectacular wedding cakes! The Golub Corp. has been doing weddings for over 10 years and prides itself on its affordable pricing and high quality."

The winning couple, Catherine Bennett and Jason West of Jupiter, Fla., will make a visit to the store today to choose their wedding flowers and cake.

Price Chopper associates have prepared various special in-store wedding activities and treats for the winning couple. Store officials will greet the couple with a banner congratulating them. Their photo will be taken, and then the bakery department will put it on a cake to surprise them. They will also go to floral department, where the staff will be wearing jerseys from the University of Florida (the couple's favorite team), to pick out their wedding flowers.

In addition, the store will display Gator sport/floral arrangements throughout the floral department. What's more, the floral department will be made to look like an actual wedding consultant's studio.

The couple will test five to six cakes, fillings, and frostings.

The Golub Corp. owns and operates more than 100 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The family-owned company's approximately 23,000 associates collectively own 55 percent of its privately held stock.
