Price Chopper Part of Effort to ‘Stamp Out Hunger’

As a result of the partnership between Price Chopper and the U.S. Postal Service in this year's "Stamp Out Hunger” campaign, which provides and collects food for those in need, collection bags went out to more than 2 million homes and 478,000-plus pounds of food were collected. The nonperishable items will be donated to local food pantries.

“It is a very heartwarming experience to see our customers come together to help so many families in our community,” noted Mona Golub, VP of public relations and consumer services at Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper. “Every family deserves to have a healthy, nutritious meal at their table, even if they need a little help from their neighbors.”

Sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, during which mail carriers spend the second Saturday in May delivering mail and collecting food for area food pantries. The food drive takes place in all 50 states and to date has yielded more than 1 billion pounds of food donations to local communities.

The Golub Corp. owns and operates 131 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
