Price Chopper Parent Lauded for College-Level Certification Program
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Golub Corp. here, the parent company of Price Chopper supermarkets, was among four recipients of awards recognizing their partnership with Hudson Valley Community College. The awards were presented at the annual meeting of the New York Community College Trustees of the State University of New York, held March 31 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Golub Corp. received the Business/Industry Partnership Award, in recognition of the 32-credit supermarket management and operations certification program created by Price Chopper and HVCC and introduced in November 2004. Price Chopper employees can take the program's courses on the HVCC campus and via distance-learning technology.
The other award recipients were State. Sen. Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and Binghamton, N.Y.-based philanthropists Kathleen and Angelo Mastrangelo.
The family-owned Golub Corp. owns and operates over 100 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Golub's approximately 23,000 associates collectively own 55 percent of the company's privately held stock.
