President/C.E.O. Leaving Associated Grocers

SEATTLE -- Associated Grocers, Inc.(AG) said yesterday that its president, c.e.o. and vice chairman of the board of directors, Bob Hermanns, has chosen to leave the company. Ron Brake, chairman of the board, has been asked to serve as interim president and c.e.o. while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Hermanns.

"Bob Hermanns has contributed greatly toward the successful turnaround of the company," said Brake in a statement. "We thank Bob for his years of service, dedication, and leadership. We wish him well in his future endeavors."

Hermanns joined the company in July 2002. The company said that it intended to go forward with its process of exploring strategic alternatives for the company, which it first announced in January of this year and reaffirmed in July. This process will result in maximized shareholder value and the maintenance of stable, competitive supply chain, according to an earlier statement by AG.

Associated Grocers is a full-service wholesaler providing food, general merchandise, and retail services to over 300 retail customer locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and the Pacific Rim.
