Piggly Wiggly Gets First In-store Dream Dinners Location
CHARLESTON S.C. -- The rapidly expanding family meal preparation industry has reached another milestone with the May 10 opening of the first Dream Dinners location within a supermarket, the Forest Park Piggly Wiggly in Columbia, S.C.
The companies describe the venture as "a partnership that will officially combine the art of 'fix-and-freeze' meal preparation with the convenience of grocery shopping." Additionally, the opening "provides customers a way to make shopping more efficient since they can purchase side dishes, as well as everyday household items, wine, and flowers, all in the same trip."
The Dream Dinners concept helps busy families create healthy, home-cooked meals in less than two hours once a month.
Expansion is planned for multiple Piggly Wiggly locations throughout Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Since the founding of Snohomish, Wash.-based Dream Dinners in 2002, about 200 separate meal-prep businesses have opened. There are now over 260 Dream Dinners franchises in 33 states.
Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co., the largest employee-owned, privately operated retail company in South Carolina, operates more than 115 stores, with 5,000 employee owners throughout South Carolina and the southeastern regions of Georgia and North Carolina.
