Penn Traffic Appoints Human Resources V.P.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Penn Traffic Company here said yesterday it has named Donald R. Bregande, a former Rite Aid Distribution executive, as its new v.p. of human resources. The appointment comes in the midst of Penn Traffic's current reorganization efforts.

"Don Bregande is a seasoned human resource manager with extensive experience in employee communications, staffing and recruitment, compensation and benefits, union relations, and organizational development," said Bob Chapman, president and c.e.o. of Penn Traffic, in a statement.

While at Rite Aid Distribution Centers, Bregande served as human resources manager. Over his 29-year career in human resources, he has also been a director or v.p. of human resources at Black Clawson, Fay's Inc., and Lamson Corp.

The Penn Traffic Company operates 109 supermarkets in Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire under the BiLo, P&C and Quality trade names. Penn Traffic also operates a wholesale food distribution business serving 79 licensed franchises and 40 independent operators and Penny Curtiss, a Syracuse-based commercial bakery.
