Peapod, Barilla Roll Out Meal Kits in NYC
Online retailer Peapod and pasta maker Barilla's line of meal kits is now available in the New York City region. Priced at $15.99-$23.99 and serving four to six people, the convenient kits provide pre-measured ingredients to make dinners in less than 30 minutes. The line debuted in the Chicago market last year.
Kit contents include Barilla pastas, easy-to-follow recipe cards, and fresh ingredients such as mozzarella and butternut squash, with all vegetables pre-washed and pre-cut. Among the varieties are Tortellini Soup; Farfalle with Roasted Butternut Squash; Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Spaghetti; and Baked Rotini.
"Weeknight dinner solutions are always a need for busy families, and we know that's especially true in New York," noted Peg Merzbacher, VP of regional marketing for Skokie, Ill.-based Peapod. "We want to continue to provide families with tools to help serve a delicious home-cooked meal as conveniently as possible – so they can get back to enjoying their time together around the table. Value is a huge component as well, and Peapod's Meal Kits are an affordable option to fill everyone's plate."
Last month, Peapod and Barilla introduced additional meal kit varieties to customers in the Chicago, Indianapolis and Milwaukee areas.
An Ahold company, Peapod serves 24 U.S. markets throughout Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
