Olsen Appointed FIAE President

Retail veteran James V. Olsen has been named president of the Flemington, N.J.-based Food Industry Association Executives (FIAE). Olsen brings 36 years of association management experience to his new role, including stints as president and CEO of the Utah Retail Grocers Association and president and CEO of the Utah Merchants Association.

“We have worked closely with him to address industry issues and concerns on local, state and national levels, and he served two terms on FMI’s Government Relations Committee,” noted Food Marketing Institute president and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin. “In fact, under his guidance, FMI fostered strong relationships with all of the members of Congress from Utah.”

In 1997, FMI honored Olsen with the Donald H. MacManus Award in recognition of his “stellar leadership skills and industry acumen,” added Sarasin.

FIAE is a network of local, state and regional food associations throughout the United States and Canada representing over 95 percent of the grocery and food industry. The organization sponsors meetings, activities, publications and services to advance the knowledge and professionalism of the food industry association executive, and serves as a vehicle for the advancement of the food industry's agenda.
