Southern California grocer Northgate Gonzalez Markets has replaced the coin-counting machines in all of its stores with kiosks from Bellevue, Wash.-based Coinstar LLC.
The new kiosks include options to convert coins to cash, egift cards (with no fee) and charity. The kiosk locations can be found on Coinstar's website.
According to Lee Pantalone, Coinstar's head of sales, the turnkey service allows Northgate Gonzalez Market to reduce labor costs and focus store personnel on customer service and store operations.
"We selected Coinstar to replace our previous coin-counting machines because of their superior technology and turnkey service that translates into cost savings for our store operations," said Tom Herman, SVP at Northgate Gonzalez Market. "Coinstar is the gold standard in self-service coin counting and provides reliable performance, and that means the service is consistently available our customers and they remain in our stores."
Anaheim, Calif.-based Northgate Gonzalez Market operates 40 full-service supermarkets in three California counties: Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego.
