    CHICAGO -- Health-conscious Americans looking for fast and convenient meal alternatives have turned in large numbers to smoothies. According to a report by Mintel here, smoothie manufacturers pulled in over $2 billion last year from made-to-order and packaged products, an increase of more than 80 percent in the last five years.

    MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Pick 'n Save store manager Jim Gauden presided over a delivery of 6,863 pounds of food to a local food shelter, courtesy of the Roundy's Foundation based here. The donation made to the Portage, Wis. Food Pantry was valued at $10,148 and included tuna, cereal, peanut butter, various lunch meats and pasta, fruit cocktail, soup, beef stew, and pancake and waffle mix.

    WILMINGTON, Del. - Wal-Mart and Safeway are the newest companies to join the new Fruits & Veggies -- More Matters license agreement initiative launched by the Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) here. All told, 33 retail companies representing approximately 20,000 individual retail stores across the nation have signed on with the More Matters campaign.
