No Frills and MBA Poultry Donate 18K Servings of Chicken
Independent operator No Frills Supermarket and MBA Poultry's Smart Giving program teamed up to donate 4,700 pounds of Smart Chicken to Together, Inc. and Mission for All Nations, two local charities that supply local food pantries.
"Supporting these local charities, at a very tough time of year is a wonderful way for No Frills and MBA Poultry to have a direct impact on our local community," said No Frills VP of marketing Lonnie Eggers. "This donation will help these charities feed struggling families for up to two months."
The Smart Chicken semi truck pulled in front of the No Frills Supermarket at 1230 N. Washington St. in Papillion, Neb. with the chicken. Charity volunteers then loaded the product for direct distribution to their pantries.
Through the Smart Giving program, MBA Poultry and No Frills donated the equivalent of 18,000 servings of chicken -- one pound of chicken for every 10 pounds sold during a two-month period.
Omaha, Neb.-based No Frills operates 16 supermarkets in Nebraska and Iowa.
