New ShopRite Revitalizes Md. Shopping Center
The newest ShopRite store, ShopRite of Perring Crossing, is scheduled to open Friday, June 1 in Parkville, Md. A May 31 preview lunch and dignitary ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature members of the Klein family, who own and operate the location, along with local politicians, elected officials, area religious leaders, and fellow ShopRite operators Jeff and Sandy Brown, founders of UpLift Solutions, which addresses the problem of food deserts.
Part of the revitalization of the Perring Crossing Shopping Center in the Parkville/Loch Raven community, the 56,000-square-foot store will offer a wide selection of groceries and fresh produce, meat and seafood; a fresh bake shop; natural, organic and gluten-free products; and a full-service pharmacy, in addition to a broad offering of ethnic foods in fresh and center store categories. Available prepared foods will include hot entrees and side dishes, soups, rotisserie and fried chicken, and many ready-to-heat items. The supermarket will employ 250 local residents.
“We are committed to bringing ShopRite’s unique services and traditional low prices to this new location and look forward to having a positive impact on the community,” noted Marshall Klein, COO of Klein’s Family Markets, which operates seven other ShopRite stores in Maryland’s Harford and Baltimore counties.
ShopRite is the registered trademark of Keasbey, N.J.-based retailer-owned cooperative Wakefern Food Corp. With more than 230 ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland, ShopRite serves more than 5 million customers each week.
