New Prez Kaczynski Makes Remodels a Priority for Bigg's

CINCINNATI -- Steve Kaczynski began his new duties as the president at bigg's here by prioritizing the remodeling schedule of the remainder of the chain's 13 stores in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Bigg's, a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, had recently remodeled two stores here, and Kaczynski said the company will concentrate on remodeling other existing stores before pursuing any new prototypes or ground-up units.

"We want to remodel all of the stores," Kaczynski was quoted as saying in local reports. I like what I see at Skytop and I like what I see at Hyde Park," he said, referring to the two recent remodels.

Kaczynski most recently was s.v.p. of sales and marketing at Boulder, Colo.-based Wild Oats, which he joined in 2001. He worked at Supervalu from 1981 through 1990; and in 1990 Giant Food Stores, Inc., where he was e.v.p./sales and marketing.

Kaczynski reports to Roger Davidson, s.v.p. and c.o.o., Supervalu Retail Food Companies. At biggís, he replaces Pierre Wevers, who recently retired.
