New Hannaford Store Opening in Rochester, N.H.

SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Hannaford Supermarket and Pharmacy here will hold the grand opening of its new 62,000-square-foot Rochester, N.H. store on Saturday, Jan. 28. The event will start at 7:45 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony performed by a local cub scout troop and the national anthem played by the Spaulding High School Marching Band. The store is Hannaford's 28th in the state.

During the grand opening, the first 500 customers to enter the store will get a free hardwood recipe box, and shoppers will be able to taste an assortment of products. Rochester residents will receive a mailer with coupons offering them $40 in savings.

The location includes a pharmacy and Hannaford's organic and natural food department, "Nature's Place," as well as a "Harvest Market" with organic and locally grown produce (available in season), a full-service butcher shop offering a variety of freshly prepared entrees, a "Fresh Catch" seafood counter, and a "Bake Shop" providing artisan breads, muffins, custom-made special-occasion cakes, and other fresh-baked items. A "Neighborhood Deli" will offer domestic and imported meats and cheeses, rotisserie chickens, and party platters. The pharmacy, which has a separate entrance, will accept all major third-party prescription plans and offer prescription refills both by phone and online.

Additionally, the store will carry the complete line of Hannaford's private label "Inspirations" products, introduced last year which consists of more than 400 premium-quality foods, among them savory sauces, mustards and fruit spreads, seasoned deli meats, dipping oils, and fresh crusty breads. The supermarket will provide many opportunities to sample new products, through such events as Friday-night wine tastings for six weeks, starting Feb. 3.

In addition to about 145 associates, the store will employ two full-time pharmacists. Experienced Hannaford store manager Gregg Zimmerman will serve in that capacity at the new location.

In keeping with its corporate philosophy of bettering the communities it serves, Hannaford said it would contribute $10,000 to area organizations in a presentation the night before the grand opening.

Store hours will be 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Pharmacy hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
