New England Produce Council Names President, Board Member
New England Produce Council Inc. (NEPC) has appointed Anthony Sattler, VP of produce at C&S Wholesale Grocers, president and Mark Jewell, category manager produce at Hannaford Supermarkets, a director on the council’s board. Sattler succeeds former NEPC President Bob McGowan, of Northeast Produce Sales, who will remain involved with the organization as an adviser to the executive board. Both appointments are effective Jan. 12.
A 19-year employee of Keene, N.H.-based C&S, Sattler was the company’s produce buyer, dairy category manager and senior director before rising to his present role, whose responsibilities include the sourcing and procurement of fresh produce.
Jewell will mark his 33rd year with Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford, a Delhaize America banner, in May. Before taking on his current role at the grocer, he was a category manager for fresh deli, produce buyer, specialist lead – retail operations, store manager and meat buyer.
Based in Burlington, Mass., the NEPC is a nonprofit trade association serving more than 500 members involved in all sectors of the produce industry: distribution, production, foodservice and retail. NEPC is also a member of the Produce Marketing Association.
