New Box Grater Takes top Honors at 6th Housewares Design Awards

An innovative box grater, a vacuum cleaner that turns on a dime and new airtight storage containers took top honors at the sixth annual Housewares Design Awards, held yesterday at the Marriott Marquis in New York, during which the best-designed housewares products of the year were recognized.

The Box Grater from Microplane won the coveted "Best of the Best - Gold" award, while the Dyson DC24 from Dyson, Inc. took silver, and the OXO Good Grips POP Container from Helen of Troy, L.P. won bronze.

The eco-friendly winners of the first-ever "Green House" Design Award -- Cuisinart's CleanWater Countertop Filtration System, NatureMill's NatureMillPro and Preserve's Preserve Kitchen -- were also recognized at the event.

The Housewares Design Awards are presented by HomeWorld Business, with educational support from the International Housewares Association and sponsorship by DuPont Teflon. Products judged were introduced to the U.S. market between Oct. 1, 2007 and Sept. 30, 2008.
